QUESTION OF RESEARCH .

WHAT METHOD CAN BE EMPLOYED TO DEVELOP CREATIVITY IN RELATION TO TECHNOLOGY AND PRACTICES.

It was really difficult to come up with how to go about this research,the first thing I did was to jot down some questions about the research which would be a guideline for this topic.

Further I will also be discussing Why I choose this topic and how my thinking might have changed at the end of my research.

What do I understand by creativity?

Is there Limits to creativity ?

How is creativity important in fashion and textiles industry.

Creativity means sequence of actions thought,imagination , idea and knowledge which can be used to innovate new things, that either exist or not from Visualizing and processing it for verbal and nonverbal use in a productive way.

Creative activities helps an individual to develop the ability to make  feelings obvious, which is a prelude to self-exploration that leads to self- discovery. When children are allowed to draw or paint any concept of their choice, it provides them the liberty to explore ideas that appeal to them. According to Campbell (2015), colour, different art materials, different textures of materials and some inspirations from a parent, can prompt children to express themselves with real originality. One spectacular thing about creativity is that they operate in the psychomotor (use of hands) and the cognitive (use of brain).

Creative people are often seen as a rarity: smart, curious, and able to look at the world with fresh eyes. A common misconception is that creativity cannot be cultivated, and that instead some lucky people have an innate sense of creativity. But this assumption is wrong. According to classical psychology research.There are three main types of creativity: exploratory, transformational, and combinational creativity.

While we often force ourselves to use exploratory creativity,generating new ideas within a given space or transformational creativity ignoring fundamental rules to come up with potentially impossible but highly creative ideas ,the reality is that most new ideas come from combinational creativity.

True originality does not exist

In the words of William Inge, An English author: “Originality is undetected piracy.” All apparent disruptors actually draw inspiration from others.

But because true originality is seen as the pinnacle of creativity, many people make the mistake of artificially striving for unique, never-heard-of-before ideas. As a result, they get stuck, feel inadequate or incompetent, lost and sometimes give up. The good news is: originality is overrated. Instead, combinational creativity is the way to go.

Technology

Technology is the Application of the ideas generated ,Filtered and Worked on put together either scientifically or applied dealing with different aspect of Sciences .ing actions and the extracting of materials. As it may be Technology is extensive and everyone has their way of understanding its meaning. We use technology to achieve various tasks in our daily lives, in brief; we can describe technology as products and processes used to simplify our daily lives. We use technology to extend our potential , making people the most crucial part of any technological system.

Ehindero et. al. (2009) described technology as the practical use of knowledge by humans, which involves the use of imagination and innovation. According to them, it is any material or immaterial item produced by humans to solve some specific problem; or to satisfy our needs or want. All the above definitions hinge on what a person or group of persons can produce with their hands and brains or sometimes,Produce for social consumption.

Practice something that is usually or regularly done , often as habit ,tradition or custom.practice is evidence of the ideas, recycling knowledge ,thoughts and combinations of imaginations put together or Modified which involves long periods of training .

Methods that can be employed to creativity in relation to technology and in practices are broad and not limited , Creativity and Technology are intertwined .Arthur VanGundy affirms that There is nothing mysterious about
creativity; it’s just a matter of applying the right attitude and methodology in a receptive context to creative thinking and new ideas.Some of the Methods that can be employed to develop creativity in relation to technology are;

Divergence:The more ideas the better, in the first phase of the creative process quantity is worth more than quality.

Brainstorming:Group idea generation. The rules are simple: every idea is valid and not criticized. The idea is heard and added to the set.

Nominal Group Technique (TGN): Similar to brainstorming, but ideas are generated in writing and anonymously. Help the less daring include their ideas without fear of being judged or condemned.

Mind-Mapping: generating ideas and ordering technique, favors semantic work, using visual and associative thinking.It allows us to look at things from a different perspective.

Manipulation of ideas:We have seen techniques for generating multiple ideas, in which quantity was worth more than quality. The technique of manipulation of ideas makes sense since it allows us to recycle an idea that did not arise in the first instance.

The most complete Method to Employ in creativity in relation to technology and practice ideas is that of SCAMPER.
